Paper Towns by John Green

Synopsis:
Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back into his life—dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge—he follows.

After their all-nighter ends and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues—and they’re for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees of the girl he thought he knew.

My Rating
-5/5-
I have been hearing a lot of good things about his book so I finally decided to read it. It has lived up to all the wonderful things that have been said about it.
What I most loved about this book is how its funny, serious, thought provoking.
The book also has three parts. The first one where Q and Margo go on this adventure which is cool and fun and we learn a little bit about the characters. The second part where Margo is gone and Q tries to piece together the puzzle and we start to see maybe we don't know these characters. Lastly part three is where the puzzle is put together and Q goes on an adventure to find Margo. Where the ending comes out not as expected.
I also just adored the characters. Each one was a awesome character from Margo and Q to Radar, Lucey and Ben. Put the characters with the awesome settings in the book and the story and you just have a really great book.
I think I need to start picking up more books by John Green.

Kill Switch by Chris Lynch

Synopsis:

Some things are best left forgotten. A gripping account of espionage and loyalty from National Book Award Finalist Chris Lynch.

All Daniel wants to do is spend one last summer with his grandfather before he moves away for college and his grandfather’s dementia pulls them apart. But when his dear old Da starts to let things slip about the job he used to hold—people he’s killed, countries he’s overthrown—old work “friends” show up to make sure he stays quiet. Was his grandfather really involved in a world of assassinations and coups, or are the stories just delusions of a crumbling mind? On the run from the police (and possibly something worse) before he has time to find out, Daniel may have to sacrifice everything to protect his grandfather from those who would do him harm

My Rating
-2.5/5-

Interesting book that keeps you wondering what is up with Daniel and his family. Daniel seems to care about his family a lot especially his grandfather who Daniel proves he will do anything for him.
You have some really interesting characters between Da, Daniel and even Daniel's cousin Jarrod. Jarrod a useless character more or less but helps out. Daniel, the one who cares and doesn't know what he is actually capable of tell something happens. Then Da crazy old man!
Also you have a really good story as Daniel tries to get his Da someone where safe where he will be left alone and left in peace.
I have to say though this book was just lacking a lot of something, I think interested and excitement it would have been so much better with a little more excitement or action or something, it was lacking in my mind.
Overall it wasn't to bad of a book though.

When There's No Tomorrow by H.J. Stephens

Synopsis:
80 years ago the worst war in human history began. 10 years ago it ended. At least that's what the history books say. But everyone knows; history books lie. The war never ended. It's still going; there just aren’t enough people alive anymore to dispute it.

My name is Kalina. My father is chief of my people, the Forgotten. The rebel scum, you may know us as. Pirates and swindlers. But we're not. We're just people fighting together to make a stand against injustice. Making a stand for our freedom.

But it's not that simple though; freedom and justice. Who chooses what is and what isn't right? Who chooses who lives and who dies?

Someone once asked me, who are we to stop a war? I ask you, who are we not to?

My Rating
-3.5/5-

Kalina isn't a strong character, as in she can handle what gets thrown at her. While it would make it sound like a horrible book it was actually really good pulling the reader in.
She is the daughter of someone important but Kalina herself is unimportant to the war and she is more or less just there and its her story. She has to go through a lot and she can't really handle it well which makes her feel very real. As opposed to the character you read in other books who almost always are able to hold it together. Kalina talks a lot about people are like, and what is probably propelling them to do all this killing instead of actually trying to end the war. It's actually pretty interesting for being a type of book I'm just to with war and two sides and some girl wanting the war to end. Though it is done in such a different way then most of those other books!
The ending was a bit of a twist, even if I have read ending like it before. Also in the Author's notes I read that this is the first in a trilogy so it will be interesting to see where this goes and if the war they are in will end.

Me Squared by Jourdan Cameron

Synopsis:
Hildan Hegennerry was an ordinary kid- he had good parents, a great best friend, and a clone. Well, that part's not so ordinary, is it?

Join Hildan on an action-packed adventure as he unveils dark secrets and discovers what it's like to have a brother.

Me Squared is more than an adventure- it also tackles some very important issues regarding bioethics and human cloning- whether anybody likes it or not, the future is coming, and with it come questions without obvious answers. Me Squared dares you to begin thinking about those questions right now.

My Rating
-3/5-

To be honest at first I thought this book was going to be bad. It actually ended up pretty good though. It's short and doesn't really go into depth on much of anything. We don't get to know the characters very well. Also there is a occasional type and some times the two boys are mixed up.
Other then that it was pretty cool. It was cool to follow Hildan finding out he has a brother and all the things he has to go through. Like the company who made his clone is in big trouble and it leads to lots of problems for Hildan and George (Hildans clone) and you get to see how they deal with it all. I thought it was a pretty neat book and I enjoyed reading it!

It's a really good book, It isn't very long less then 150 pages so it was pretty fast to read too. Joy feels like she is being haunted when she gets a new dress. She is and she helps a girl Beth -the girl who is haunting joy and the dress used to belong to- to tie up some loose ends and let everyone know what really happened to her. It was a good little book I liked it.
Even if the characters weren't really in depth and it just focus on this one little point.
Also Joy seems to go a little back and forth with her feelings like she wants to do something but then doesn't. Its not much but its there. Also Joy just excepts that she is being haunted right away. Which I found weird. But honestly other then those few little things it was a really good book I liked it.

I also see that there is a second book coming out next year and I hope to read that and see what that's about!!

Right away this book is very detailed and does a really good job at pulling you in.
It does take a while for the paranormal part to show up and for it to go into the paranormal romance but it was nicely done before that and doesn't lose your attention.
I really enjoyed the writing in this book it was good writing. The days and everything like changes in time just kind of blended together which was slightly weird and made you had to pay attention but it wasn't bad.
The characters where amazing strong characters. They all had depth and personalities  not just our main character Cole, and I loved that about this book.
The details made it great like when she goes to Drex's world you are really able to picture it with the details she gives.
Oh also have to mention what a nice name Drex is.
Anyways fantastic book it was done amazingly and I will see if I can get my hands on the rest of the series because I love to finish this series.

You Against Me by Jenny Downham

Synopsis:

If someone hurts your sister and you're any kind of man, you seek revenge, right?

If your brother's accused of a terrible crime but says he didn't do it, you defend him, don't you?

When Mikey's sister claims a boy assaulted her, his world begins to fall apart.

When Ellie's brother is charged with the offence, her world begins to unravel.

When Mikey and Ellie meet, two worlds collide.

This is a brave and unflinching novel from the bestselling author of Before I Die. It's a book about loyalty and the choices that come with it. But above all it's a book about love.

My Rating
-4/5-

I really like this book. It was surprising super good. It really pulls you in right from the start. You have Mikey who believes his sister and Ellie who believes her brother. Even though Ellie and Mikey are on opposite sides and should hate each other they fall in love. Which is really cute.
Though this book is a lot of back and forth like Mikey uses Ellie, then Ellie uses him. Ellie gets Mikey in trouble then Mikey gets Ellie in trouble. Lol. Lots of back and forth which was cool.
I liked how you had to figure out if Mikey's sister or Ellie's brother is lying and who is to blame.
I liked the love story in this book it was very cute. I loved all the emotions in it. How it went between following Mikey and then Ellie.
Mikey has to do everything for his family for a while, take his little sister to school, work, take care of the family, try to get his mom to act like a mom. Yet he doesn't seemed stressed out.
Ellie her family only cares about his brother and what he is going through and they pay little attention to her and she is very stressed out.
Putting Mikey and Ellie together makes a roll coaster of emotions, which I just loved.
I really enjoyed the language of the book it made it interesting to read.
I also really loved the ending because while it is sort of happy it also leaves a lot open ended where you don't know what happened.
Just a really good book :)

My Rating
-2/5-
A free copy was received from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I hate to say bad things about a book cause I know the author took a lot of time and effort to write a book for others to enjoy but this book was kind of bad.
The writing in this book is a main reason I disliked most of it, there  where a lot of typos first off. I think it should have been edited at little better. Secondly it didn't flow, it felt awkward to read cause it was just kind of didn't flow right. Most of the sentences where long sentences it seemed. There should have been a mixture of short and long sentences. All long makes it boring, and it's just better to write with all different kinds of sentence lengths. Also the wording in this book, the right words make all the difference. Like if you say 'I was lying down then sat down' it just doesn't sound right. It also doesn't help you see in your mind what's going on. Also that way things where described it was hard to picture what was going on, something that should have been done was the author should have used all 5 senses to describe a scene. The way it look is one thing but how it smelled or felt, or sounded things like that would have helped out a lot.
Now I stuck through this whole book and read the whole thing. 2 things that never really made much sense were: 1 the prologue and the Epilogue and 2 Bexx sister thing. Let me do Bexx's sister really fast, I don't get this cause I'm unsure why Bexx cares about her or wants to figure out what's wrong. I guess maybe it's done that way so the next story can play out because it has something to do with that? I'm not sure maybe I will find out. The epilogue and prologue didn't make much sense. Half way threw the book we sort of get what the prologue is about, but still it's weird cause I feel like the prologue is unnecessary. It could have been taken out and I think the effect would have been the same. The Epilogue is like the prologue but just slightly different and I have no clue what it has to do with anything at all either. Other then to maybe reinforce a small part of the story? Who knows.
Now I don't have just bad things to say about this book I have some good things to say too.
I liked the idea of the story it was very cool. I think it could have been done a little better but it was a good idea.
I liked Bexx character at first I didn't like her and felt she was too perfect, but if you stick with the book you find out why you also find out she knows nothing and she isn't perfect. She was a neat character and seemed to be exactly what the author wanted her to be at all times.
I liked how Bexx believed in the Rose even after a lot of evidence pointed away from it. I liked how she also slowly turned against the Rose. It wasn't all at once which made it feel real.
A lot of this book seemed more realistic then most books the way parts feel flat and how Bexx thought through things. At least for me it felt real at times and I liked that.
That's about all I have to say.

Starters (Starters #1) by Lissa Price

Synopsis:
HER WORLD IS CHANGED FOREVER

Callie lost her parents when the Spore Wars wiped out everyone between the ages of twenty and sixty. She and her little brother, Tyler, go on the run, living as squatters with their friend Michael and fighting off renegades who would kill them for a cookie. Callie's only hope is Prime Destinations, a disturbing place in Beverly Hills run by a mysterious figure known as the Old Man.

He hires teens to rent their bodies to Enders—seniors who want to be young again. Callie, desperate for the money that will keep her, Tyler, and Michael alive, agrees to be a donor. But the neurochip they place in Callie's head malfunctions and she wakes up in the life of her renter, living in her mansion, driving her cars, and going out with a senator's grandson. It feels almost like a fairy tale, until Callie discovers that her renter intends to do more than party—and that Prime Destinations' plans are more evil than Callie could ever have imagined. . . .

My Rating
-5/5-
Really good book! Like just wow Lissa Price made a wonderful book.
Lets start with some of the things I disliked though.
I feel like there is a love triangle, but also that there isn't because Callie doesn't really seem to notice Michael enough to make it that way. But she notices him enough to were it like she really is picking from just one guy. It was weird to say the least at some times I got the feeling of a love triangle at other times I didn't. The ending to the book doesn't really help you figure it out though just makes it more confusing.
Maybe the second book will help clear that up.
Another thing I didn't seem to like all that much is it was hard to picture things, like its suppose to be just old and young people, but it wasn't mentioned enough or put in a way were it stuck in my mind. I had to constantly keep reminding myself what Callie's world was like. That there was only old people with silver hair and young kids and teens.
Also the last thing I say I disliked is, we only got to really know Callie. We got to know other characters a little but not really at all. Callie is the only character we truly got to know about. The other ones all seemed to be in a lie or just weren't mentioned more then a few times. Like for example Micheal, he is Callie's friend and taking care of her brother while she is gone. What more do we really know about him? Callie's dad though I felt like we got to know a lot more about him then Micheal. Even though we just got to know Callie's dad by memories she recalled. I just wish I could have got to know more of the characters better.
And most everyone else was pretending to be someone else. So we couldn't really get to know anyone.
Now what I loved about this book.
The story it's self was amazing, where it went the plot it was just WOW. Lissa Price did an amazing job, kept me on my toes with all the twists and turns in the book. I never expected a lot of it. Maybe I was so busy focusing on who could Callie trust? I mean almost everyone was someone else or just something that made them un-trustworthy. The twists and turns though were really just unexpected and amazing in my mind though.
I loved Callie as a character, she is strong and smart. Just like anyone in her position should be! She also cares about her brother and what is happening to all the teens. Though Callie is also just a teenager, she isn't exactly special to all the other teens in this weird world she is pretty normal. Most kids know how to fight and hide and are strong so she isn't like some super chick in her surroundings. She even ends up dating a guy and falling for him. All that made Callie a realistic character I couldn't help but love.
Lastly the ending was amazing. It flipped so much upside down. It was a good ending I had no clue was coming which made it even better. Endings you never see coming are always the best.
Also the end of the book kind of explains everything that happens. Like it clears a lot of things up and helps you understand how everything happened. It made me think of how important timing is to everything.
Anyways great book!! One of my favorites Lissa Price you did a great job! Can't wait to read Enders.

Sparks fly when she meets Shea, but could the cute drylander really be the Son of a Mermaid?
My Rating
-2.5/5-
A free copy was received from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book was kind of predictable and I think followed most mermaid like stories. Not hugely there were still differences that made it all its own but it did feel really predictable. Especially at the begging of the book.
Don't worry though because about not half way but about a 1/3 through that changed. It was still partly predictable but it became less that way.
I also felt that 3rd person was a bad choice for this book, I mean it worked but i felt at times there was just to much and it would have been better if it was first person switching between the two characters. Never the less the way it was done did work.
I did enjoy the book though, maybe we will see a second one about Shea trying to become a king or trying to learn everything or make a difference. Who knows it would be cool though. Anyways it was a okay book.

Trigger by Susan Vaught

Synopsis:
Jersey Hatch seemed to have it all together-he played sports, was popular, had a great girlfriend, best friend, and supportive parents. But when he emerges from a recuperative care center, all that is gone, his legs and hands don't work right, his mouth says every word that pops into his brain, and he has to write down his thoughts so that he remembers even the most basic directions and details. Through it all, one question haunts him: why did he try to kill himself?
My Rating
-3/5-
This book is pretty sad, not gonna lie. Jersey tried to kill himself but lived but now everything is different. He keeps searching for answers which are hard for him to get.
It's a very good book though! Jersey tries really hard at things, like getting answers or being quite, or to just be normal like not say random things.
I really like how its in the Point of view of Jersey and you get to know what is going on in his head even the random things, which is really good because the random stuff helps with the story with out it, the story just wouldn't be the same.
This book is good but it almost made me cry a lot of times cause like I said it's kind of sad.

My Rating
-5/5-
Loved this book as much as the first one!!!
Now this book takes place right where the first book left off. I recomend reading the first book then reading this book right after wards. That's what I did and I'm glad because it probably really helps.
The summery of this book makes me think it was going to be like the last book a little. It wasn't though! It was pretty different.
Now this book is kind of awesome in the fact that we get to sort of know about Raffe's past and also Paige's past in this book. Like Paige we kind of get to know what happened to her and Raffe we just kind see into his past a little. Cool thing about this is they are both done in some really cool ways that was interesting.
Parts of this book got me wondering if the bad guy was really so bad, then parts got me wondering if Penryn's mom is really that crazy? So that was interesting to read about, cause I don't even know the answers to those questions! Had some really good twists and turns, in this book.
Also since this book takes place in a short time like the last book (almost hard to believe) it is really action packed and really good. Hard book to put down. I love this book and can't wait to see where the next book takes us because this is so good but it left so much unanswered at the end. I'm now dying to get into the next book and see what happens to each and every character.
Penryn's epic fight skills make her amazing and she is so kick-ass that this book was hard not to read.
We also seen a lot more of Paige's character and that mom's so it really isn't just about Penryn and Raffe now it is about like all of them. You really get drawn into to every character and want to know what happens with each one. Which is great!
This book is just as good as the first can't wait to see what Susan Ee has in store for the 3rd book.

My Rating
-5/5-

So first off I first read this book during the month of April this year, and I just reread it. I usually hardly ever reread books cause I can remember most of the details in them. I remembered just about all the details in this book, but decided to reread it before I read the second book because it didn't feel right if I didn't. Plus this gives me a reason to do a review on this book.
So the fact that I felt the need to read this is a sign it is for sure one of my favorites.
Lets start out with one of my favorite things about this book and that is our main character Miss Penryn. She is really strong and really smart. She doesn't want to fight all the angels she just wants to take care of the people she cares about. Which I just loved! I also liked her back round and her fighting skills. Real fighting skills more then what you see on tv for fighting. It was obvious that Susan Ee knew a thing or two about fighting or actually looked it up.
Another thing I just loved was the scene of everything, everything was just described so well it was easy to picture it in your head! Always love when you can do that makes everything feel so much more real.
Now for Raffe, I like his character too. Forbidden romance is always kind of fun to read about. Hopefully though the second book doesn't come with a love Triangle, I don't know how many people like those but they do get boring after a while.
Lastly the ending is one of the best it is unexpected and just a really good ending, it was weird and scary and even heartbreaking.
If this book sounds interesting, pick it up and read it with out a second thought, if you have already read this book comment I would love to hear what you have to say. :)

My Rating
-3/5-
Picked up this book just for the cover, Didn't know what it was about at all before I started reading it.
This book was really raw and emotional but just really real. Honest. The author didn't try to cover up the pain of the characters. She also didn't make it seem like it could all ever be better. I really liked that. I also liked the characters, she had some really strong characters that made the book worth reading.

Also another thing in this book is the writing itself, The writing made it so good, Amy Mcnamara did a good job at making it really feel real like one minute Wren is happy and life is good the next she doesn't want to get out of bed. Who hasn't had times like that? I just really liked how real that seemed to me.
Anyways I liked this book, not one of my favorites but it certainly wasn't bad at all.

Bruiser by Neal Shusterman

Synopsis:
"There’s a reason why Brewster can’t have friends – why he can’t care about too many people. Because when he cares about you, things start to happen. Impossible things that can’t be explained. I know, because they're happening to me."

When Brontë starts dating Brewster “Bruiser” Rawlins – the guy voted “Most Likely to Get the Death Penalty” her twin brother, Tennyson, isn’t surprised. But then strange things begin to occur. Tennyson and Brontë’s scrapes heal unnaturally fast, and cuts disappear before their eyes. What at first seems like their good fortune turns out to be more than they bargained for…much more.

 My Rating
-5/5-
Love Neal Shusterman's book so while I was looking at titles from my library and came across this book I just had to read it.
This book was funny in the beginning but it soon became sad and great and just filled with all kinds of emotions from the characters. I loved how it made me feel I loved some of the sadness in the book. It was just really good beginning to end.
I loved the characters too, this book jumps between the 4 characters perspectives Brewster, Cody, Tennyson and Brontë. I loved all four characters and how they acted towards things.
I also like how each one when its there turn to tell something they sound all completely different. What Cody says is clearly different then how
Brontë tells things. Also Tennyson explains things in a whole different way Brewster does, Brewster even comes with a whole different writing style sort of in poems which I have to say was pretty neat.
I also loved where the story ended most authors would have ended it half way threw. Half way threw there was a point where the story could have just ended and no one would have thought to much about it but it just goes on to make a great story even better.
I love Neal Shusterman's work he is one of my favorite authors and 'Bruiser' is such a good book.
